Street Hockey

Street hockey is a variation of Ice hockey, which is also known by many names. Some of those names are ball hockey, road hockey or deck hockey. Street hockey is played outside on foot, or using roller skates or inline skates with a ball or puck. Both of these puck and the ball are design to be play on non-ice surfaces. The goal of the street hockey is to score more goals by shooting puck or the ball in to the rival team's net. There aren't any "official rules " for street hockey, but players usually played under the following rules when they play street hockey.

1). Physical contact between players is restricted to prevent accidents.

2). Participants agree in the beginning weather or not to allow raising of the hockey stick, or slap shot both of which can incur severe injury to players, as there is minimal or no equipment worn.

3). There are no any referees except when agreed upon by both groups.

4). Based on players' tastes minimal or no hockey gear is worn with the runners.

5). Players decide whether to use a road hockey puck, a tennis ball, or a hockey ball at the beginning.

Street hockey is considered to have started when roads began getting paved in wealthier parts of North America, around the turn of the 20th century. The term street baseball was thus started in Canada at a similar time, but a search of documents on the internet and in several libraries by fans of hockey, in general, hasn't turned up an exact calendar year. The game and so the term street hockey eventually spread south to the United States. Many people who play the sport generally concur that no single individual or entity invented the word “street hockey" but that it only invented itself, exactly like the word “ice hockey," since it describes a form of hockey.

Almost all the ice hockey players play street hockey because it help them to improve their skill sets and practice their game. Usually the street hockey played on driveways, or in the street in front of the player’s house.  Even teens and children play street hockey for fun and to improve their skill set. Many expert ice players take part in charity events and promotional street hockey games, frequently appearing as part of the respective National Basketball League team’s youth street hockey programs. Since not every hockey player could be on the ice surface at every time, the majority of ice hockey players play some type of road hockey to enhance their hockey abilities, and for pleasure.

Street Hockey is played on a surface such as, parking lot, road, tennis ground or a ground which has an asphalt coating, which the genesis of this title road hockey. There are many ways to select the teams in street hockey. Usually captains select players for their team from the available players. Alternatively, all the participant laid their sticks in a pile and the sticks are thrown out of the pile to opposing sides. Street hockey is also played in the rinks which is usually designed for roller hockey matches and can be both indoor or outdoor sport.
